Abstract

A total number of 81 demonstrations of mustard were conducted in different locations of farmers field of district Baghpat of western Uttar Pradesh by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Baghpat to promote the cultivation and adoption of improved package of practices. The seeds of improved varieties and balanced fertilizers were the part of technological package identified during farmers meeting and discussion and provided to the demonstration plots as against control. All the demonstrations were carried out in close co-ordination of scientists and farmers as well. Results obtained were encouraging as improved varieties and balanced fertilization increased yield to the tune of 6.2% and 9.6%, respectively, whereas both the factors in combination were responsible for 15.8% increase in yield. C: B ratio obtained in demonstration fields was also higher as against control ones. It was suggested that while selecting the inputs for mustard, balanced fertilization (NPK 100:80:40) with additional supply of sulpher @ 30 kg/ha should be given priority.
