Abstract

From foregoing study it has been concluded that tribal farmers are well aware about the importance of soil and water conservation. They have their tremendous traditional methodology to control the soil erosion and water harvesting. They have learned these methodologies from their ancestors and transmitted by mouth of words. Tribal farmers were observed that they have location specific knowledge and learning attitude towards making the bend, stream and designing the model to check the water runoff. Conservation of soil erosion by various kinds of means like, grassing, bunding, pitching, retaining of trees roots and stems, ploughing across slope, making entire field in to small plots as well as location specific plantation of different trees/shrubs/crops are unique and rational practices in soil conservation. Therefore, it is hoped that the findings of this study will make necessary help to the scientists’ policy makers and institutions to designed the soil and water conservation project according to the tribal perception for fruitful results.
