Lot of NGOs are working for overall development of rural people in J&K state. The study was carried out in 8 adopted villages of Samba district were covered under women centered projects initiated by NGO (AKKA) for overall development and empowerment of women. A pre-structured questionnaire was put forth for collection of data. The pursuit was conducted to study the women based projects executed by AKKA, species cultivated in women oriented projects, training interventions to adopted farm women, training imparted on the aspects, participation of rural women in agriculture and allied ventures, socioeconomic empowerment of rural women and other women focused activities undertaken. Various programmes are in place specifically oriented towards the socio-economic empowerment of women at the levels of central and state governments, SAUs/voluntary organizations, and there is a need to do more.
