Abstract

Banks being the biggest financial intermediaries in the economy, will have to exercise asset management in an emerging institutional, technological structural, market based competitive environment and regulatory and statutory supervision of RBI. In a high voltage competition, the asset management efficiency determines the profit performance of the bank. The AME depends on the NPPA. Therefore, the AME of Punjab National Bank, Central Bank of India and Union Bank of India have been quantified with the help of NPPA along with NIM, Net NPA ratio, total expenses to total income, CDR and IDR. The analysis has revealed that the NPPA has recorded rise due to an increase in NIM and fall in the Net NPA ratio and total expense to total income.
