The performance appraisal system provides an opportunity for the employee development goals and jointly creates a plan for achieving those goals. Development plans should contribute to organizational goals and the professional growth of the employee. Performance appraisal is an important tool for organizations to use in managing and improving the performance of employees, in making timely and accurate staffing decisions and in improving the overall quality of firm's products and services. The appraisal process is a formal way of evaluating an employee's performance. Its purpose is to provide an accurate picture of past and future employee performance. This paper examines the employee satisfaction regarding the performance appraisal, which have a large bearing on the overall performance of the employees in South Central Railway. (SCR)
