The MSMEs Sector can play an important role in the economic growth of India. This is due to it's employment intensity and focus on rural and local economy. It is also considered as a backbone for developing entrepreneurship. This paper is based on the analysis of the thrust given to the sector by the Government under it's economic development programmes. It also examines the issues and the relevant policy parameters for the growth of MSME sector.
