Agriculture provides the principal means of livelihood for over 55 per cent of India's population, despite, a steady decline in its share to the gross Domestic Product (GDP). Low and volatile growth rates of the sector as well as the recent escalation of agrarian crisis in several parts of the country posed a threat not only to national food security but also the economic well being of the farmers and nation as a whole. This paper focuses on the causes, pattern and remedial measures for farmers suicides in Nizamabad, Telangana and India.
