Globalisation has been the buzzword during the end of 20th century and in 21st century. Globalisation has its ownpros and cons. For the developing countries like India its disadvantages are rather more than the advantages. That too when the whole world is suffering from COVID 19 and when it is necessary to be less dependent on other countries, we should evolve an alternative to this policy of globalisation. In this new normal we should start thinking of being ‘local’ rather than ‘global’ and should try to make the country self reliant. This paper aims at studying what is localisation and what are its merits. Supporting Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi’s view in making the country self reliant, this paper calls for the need for a Swadeshi Movement to develop local products and adoption of the policy of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The paper suggests the need for a policy reversal from globalisation to localisation.
