Abstract

The new education policy is an attempt to eliminate memory learning (which is mentally taxing and perhaps a futile exercise) by suggesting revamping the curriculum and pedagogy of school education and changing the school format from a 10+2 pattern to a 5+3+3+4 pattern. It stresses on imparting skills, innovativeness and creativity among school students very early on by including focus on soft skills, digital literacy, new technologies, social issues etc., to promote holistic development of school students. The emphasis is on making learning more holistic, integrative and experiential.
