This paper analyses trends in produce arrivals and their respective price. This study is based on selected notified commodities which are actively traded on Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Goa for the period from 1986–87 to 2005–06. Percentage method, Coefficient of correlation technique and 3 point scale have been used to verify the relationship between market arrivals and price at different stages.
It is an attempt to identify the factors determining the farmer's perception towards working and management of the yards. A sample of 100 farmers has been selected from the yard to accomplish the purpose. The statistical tool used by the researcher help to understand the degree of correlation between the arrivals and the value of the respective notified commodities. Pineapples, coconuts, and betel nuts reveal positive correlation whereas cashew nut and banana show negative correlation. Efficient functioning of market yards in a way is clearly ascertained by their technique of attracting the farmer's produces. The extent of consciousness generated by the yards among the farmers could be measured by quantum gathered and compiled thereafter. The study concludes with a note on the necessity of undertaking certain measures to achieve the desired objectives.
