Abstract

The purpose of this article is to conduct a Post-publication review of articles published in the first volume of the Journal of Commerce and Management Thought (JCMT) and offer some guidelines to authors so as to improve the quality of their future papers before submission to journals. For this purpose, papers in various journals onmanagement published by Emerald Publications Limited is considered as benchmark for presentation quality based on which the lacunae in papers published in JCMT during 2010 are identified. The summary of benchmarks and the lacunae in various papers provides a model for writing good papers for JCMT. Naïve researchers may benefit from this work and write better papers for JCMT or for any other journal in future. However, this article has two limitations, one is that only the Emerald journalsare considered to identify benchmarks and so the guidelines may seem to be subjective to some extent, in which casethe benchmarks may be treated as minimum requirements; the other is that only quality of presentation is considered while contribution to current knowledge base in the area of research is also most important and must be substantial.
