Abstract

This is a time of tremendous opportunity for business schools in Asia as the centre of gravity of business shifts towards Asia and North America declines in popularity as an education destination. While, China and South East Asian countries face the phenomenon of ageing population, India has a unique opportunity through its demographic dividend to play a major role in the global economy with 550 million below the age of 25. Management education, with current phase of robust growth, is focused on global learning through diffusion of best practices in design, formulation and delivery of academic programs. This qualitative paper, dedicated to academicians, students, and professionals envisages to trace the evolution, growth and industry acceptance of Indian management education as it traverses through the 21st Century, the “Knowledge Century”, where a second wave of institution building of excellence is envisioned by the Government for rapid socio-economic transformation of India.
