Abstract

Corporate philanthropy is not new in India. It is not clear whether they would change their established ways of giving. As the number of Indian billionaires grows and their income streams swell and become steady optimists believe, there will be a natural growth in corporate philanthropy. In India philanthropy is more in nature of NGOs and organizations doing philanthropic work going to corporate and individuals for help. Private philanthropy has gone up primarily due to an increase in the number of wealthy individuals, a shift in attitude of high-net worth individuals, and the younger generation of entrepreneurs. India’s private charitable donation is still far behind developed countries.
