Today in every corner of the world more and more women are surfing the waves of economic opportunities and self determination through business entrepreneurship. While the contribution of women in socio-economic development cannot be ignored, their representation in gainful employment is comparatively low. It is through entrepreneurship that women can excel in their journey towards ‘wellbeing’ and ‘empowerment’. The study of 700 women entrepreneurs from five different categories revealed the problems faced by them. The Government at the centre and in the states have crafted out various schemes of promotion of women entrepreneurship, however there is a need to monitor their implementation at grass root levels.
