The Plight of Women Empowerment in the Context of Globalization

The new circumstances created by globalization are diverse and encompass all aspects of women's lives affecting both the quantity and the quality of work available to the majority of women. The present paper gives an overview of what is in store for women in this process of globalization and what type of information needs are likely to evolve due to this major change in the new socio- economic scenario. Globalization can be a major force for feminine prosperity only if it is backed by adequate national policies and conducive social and economic environment. The paper finally strives to understand that effective development requires full integration of women in the development process as agents of change as well as beneficiaries because women force can be utilized as development resources in numerous ways.
