Abstract

This research paper discussed the investment behavior of equity investors. The study is based on questionnaire survey results in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu.The first part of the study concentrates on the decisions taken by the investors while investing in equity markets. It appeared from the analysis that the sample investors give importance to own analysis of simple percentage and hypotheses testing. The second part of the study identifies the factors, which are affecting investment behavior of equity investors regularity of investment, motive of investment, types of market preferred and number of companies in which investment are made and annual value of trading as important factors. The third part of the study evaluates various revival measures available. The evidence from this study suggests that the relatively small investors who wish to invest a little money on equities should try through institutional investment. Accordingly numbers of suggestive measures in terms of making a wide investment, purchasing shares, regular trading in the stock market and brokers have to clear the doubts of the investors and should always protect the interest of their clients were suggested to improve the investors’ confidence in equity market. The emphasis is on teamwork of all the market players in continuously improving the system and communication of the same to the investors.
