Abstract

The Provisions of the Child Labour (Prohibition) Act should be made punitive. The need of the hour is to setup a commission on late adolescent and young persons, which should take note and prevent the exploitation of adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18. The measures envisaged for rehabilitating the late young person's thus rescued have not got the attention they deserve. It is mostly the poor and illiterate families who depend on the young person's to supplement their family income instead of sending them to school. Such families need to be convinced that the alternative offered is better than their present condition. Also, these should be a thrust towards solving the bigger problem of poverty if the drive towards to rehabilitating and regulate the young is to be successful. This paper reveals the socio economic analysis of the young persons on the sphere of legal dimensions. The international law of convention says that below 18 years are children whereas in India, The Child Labour Prohibition and Regulation act 1986 prescribes the below 14 years are child labour
