Abstract

The purpose of this note is to explain and justify the procedure which is adapted to select the best research paper published in 2012 in the Journal of Commerce and Management Thought (JCMT) for the ABEED Best Research Paper Award 2012. In order to identify the most appropriate paper for the Best Paper Award, a set of internationally accepted criteria have been adapted. The criterion is in terms of content and substance of the papers. The content refers to Literature review, Methodology, Data/information sources, Results, Conclusions and Implications for future research or current practice. On the other hand, substance is measured in terms of Degree of importance, relevance to, and innovativeness in the field of academic research; Soundness of the methodology; validity of the statistical analysis employed and the conclusions reached; Logical organization and writing; Usefulness of the information and generalizability to the field of academic research. After many rounds of careful and critical readings of all the papers, the paper entitled ‘Analysis of ‘Push Mail’ Adoption Behaviour Using Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) Model [Vol. 3, Issue 2, pp.281–297]’ by Dr. Sudheer Dhume and Dr. Sachin Kamble has been nominated for the Best Paper Award. This note is expected to help the respective authors of a paper to self-evaluate his/her paper and realize why they lost the race this time and also to improve the quality of the content and substance of future research by various scholars in Commerce and Management.
