Abstract

In the present unprecedented volatility of business environment, the need to consistently ensure peak performance of workforce to compete in the marketplace has gained importance. The only way an organization can thrive and meet business demands is by having right people and using their potentials at optimum levels. With organizations find it hard to recover from the throes of economic downturn, the morale and confidence at many workplaces are quite low and most employers are struggling to derive optimum performance from their employees. Absenteeism, stress and retention problems are increasing than ever before. Tightened belts and uncertainty have made vast majority employees anxious and pessimistic. There is emergence of a mismatch between ‘obligations of an employee's position’ and his/her ‘ability or willingness to perform’ which reduces the level performance
