Positive work environments are one of the factors leading to job satisfaction of health workforce and their subsequent intention to retain with the organization. Attracting the potential workforce to engage in health sector, motivating existing health workforce to retain with the sector needs to make the employment here more attractive. Higher employee retention rate leading to better team work increased continuity of patient care and ultimate improvements in patient outcomes. High performance of health organizations is characterized by pride, innovation and strong interpersonal relations; strengthening management and leadership of health systems delivery. Safety in the workplace leading to job satisfaction which in turn decreases absenteeism and turnover rates thereby increasing the morale and productivity of employees and improving work performance as a whole; a feeling of respect and value in their place of employment through autonomy at work; retention of workforce due to opportunities for advancement professionally, participation in decision-making and fair compensation; are all identified as "enabling work environment". This study discusses the various factors of work place which create a positive environment in primary health centers and its impact on job satisfaction of health workforce.
