Green Initiatives of Banks in India: A Paradigm Shift

Green Banking means to promote environmental friendly practices and to reduce the carbon footprint from banking operations. This paper aimed at finding out the various initiatives taken by the Indian banking industry to protect the natural environment and bring about sustainable development in the society. The methodology consists of a case study based approach of secondary sources like Bank websites, RBI reports, etc. and other relative information published on the banks and other internet sites. The findings are that the banks have been taking on the green initiatives in a big way.
