In light of increasing stress on water resources to meet ever increasing demand, primarily driven by growing population, increasing urbanisation and agricultural needs there is a huge financing gap in water resource management. The present study examines the current situation of water resource management in India along with the various policy steps taken by the government; the discussion highlights the need for integrated water resource management in India. The main aim is to raise few questions illustrating the importance of exploring innovative means of financing of WRM.
