Human Resource Planning in Indian Railways

Abstract

Among all the resources, the Human Resources are the real resources of any organization. Human Resource planning is one of the core aspects of Human Resource Management.

Transport is one of the service sectors in India. Transport plays a vital link between in the Production centers, Distribution centers and to the ultimate Consumers’. Transport also exercises a unifying and integrating influence on the economy. Indian Railways is one of the means of transport of bulk goods for longer distances and commuters in India. Indian Railways is the life line of India. Indian Railways is one of the biggest employers by employing 13.31 lakhs of employees. Indian Railways carried 8107 million passengers during the year 2015–16. Indian Railways is one of the World's Largest Railway networks comprising over a route of 66,687 km and 7216 Railway stations and the number of trains runs are13, 313 during the year 2015–16. Hence, the present study proposes the Human Resource Planning in Indian Railways with the help of the other core objectives

For the present study the data is collected from the secondary source. The study period is from 1950–51 to 2015–16. The statistical methods applied are in accordance to the needs of the analysis.
