Empirical Analysis of Non-Performing Assets of Buldhana Urban Co-Operative Credit Society

Abstract

The Non-Performing Assets (NPA'S) problem is one of the foremost and major problems thathas shaken the entire banking industry in India. At the Macro level, NPA'S have choked off the supply line ofcredit to the potential borrowers, thereby having a negative effect on capital formation and arresting the economicactivity in the country. At the Micro level, the unsustainable level of NPA's has eroded the profitability of banks throughreduced interest income and provisioning requirements, besides restricting the recycling of funds leading to seriousasset-liability mismatches. Purpose of research paper is to study the trend in deposits, disbursement, Gross-NPA, NET-NPA and Credit-Deposits ratio in Buldhana Urban Cooperative credit society. Also study the causes of Non-performing Assets for Buldhana Urban Co-operative Credit Society. Identify the effects of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) on the financial position of the “Buldhana Urban Co-operative Credit Society”. Results show the association of Nonperforming assets and profitability of Buldhana Co-operative Credit Society.
