Kisan credit card scheme and ground level production credit in Punjab

Abstract

Production credit is the financial assistance which is required to meet the expenses for raising the crops. The kisan credit card scheme is a short term credit facility in order to provide agriculture credit in hassle free manner for production as well as consumption needs of the farmers. The study has been designed in order to study the role played by Kisan credit card scheme in the production credit for agriculture in Punjab. The period of the study was 2003–04 to 2014–15. The secondary data has been analysed by using various tool. It was found that there was a significant impact of kisan credit card scheme upon flow of production credit during the period of study. Both the production credit as well as amount sanctioned under KCC has been on progressive line as far as growth is concerned.
