Dietary intake of protein and fat and their relation to body fat mass in female students

Abstract

A study carried out to investigate the dietary intake of protein and fat and their relation to Body Fat Mass among 60 female students of 22–24 years of age reveled that the girls of low Body Fat Mass Group (n=22), medium Body Fat Mass Group and high Body Fat Mass Group (n= 11) were taking 47.61, 48.85 and 49.31 g protein per day that is adequate to their needs and near to the LCMR recommendation (50 g per day). The fat consumption of all three groups were more than double (38.70 g fat/day for low Body Fat Mass Group, 38.42 g fat/day medium Body Fat Mass Group and 44.05 g fat/day for high Body Fat Mass Group) of ICMR recommendation (20g fat/day).
