The present investigation was carried out to assess the nutritional quality and adequacy of packed food on randomly selected sample of 120 school children from Govt. and private school of Hisar city. Foods brought in packed lunch boxes was weighed. The raw food ingredients for cooked foods brought in lunch was calculated with the help of standardized recipes. Nutritive value of raw food ingredients was calculated using food composition table. Majority of the children were satisfied with the packed food they brought. Intake of protein, thiamine and niacin from packed food was Significantly higher than one third of RDA among Govt. school children, whereas intake of other nutrients as vitamin A, iron and calcium was Significantly lower than one third of RDA in children from both the schools.
