Abstract

Rural women and their participation in dairy enterprise has been well-recognized. Many new technologies, particularly in the field of dairying are emerging to bring qualitative and quantitative change in rural women's day-to-day life to meet their changing requirements. Thus, there is a need to analyse the training needs of farm women in order to strengthen their skills and efficiency in the deficient areas of dairying through training programmes for the ultimate aim of augmenting milk productivity of their dairy animals. With this assumption, data were collected, through interview-schedule, from 120 women belonging to 8 villages. The study revealed that about 85 percent of rural women perceived medium level of training needs towards dairy enterprise. Management, followed by health care, feeding, breeding and fodder production were the priority areas of training, as perceived by the respondents. The fodder production was the least preferred area for training purposes.
