¹Home environment: planned village observations*

A village and its homes have different socio-cultural setup than cities, however facilities and infrastructure to fulfill the basic needs are more or less absent in these homes. More so for the children the home envirorunent is not specifically planned as in cities and urban areas where children get some amount of stimulation from fast running life and its environment also. A study planned to rate Home Environment in the experimental village where a ‘Farm Creche’ is an ongoing programme for infants and preschooler under All India Coordinated Research Programme in Home Science. The home environment rated on Caldwell ‘Home Environment’ Inventory and Prerna Mohite Home Environment Inventory explainea that majority of the purposively selected families under Study rate in the lowest middle category under Caldwell Home Environment inventory and in the poor, lacking category under Prerna Mohite Home Environment Inventory. The findings signify little or less stimulation in the Home Environment existed for majority of infants and children under study. The implications of the study in terms of providing mother/parents education to systematically making parents aware of the Significance of Home Environment for young ‘growing child imd introducing low cost wars of improving the home environment to make it more stimulating and supportive for child's growth and development.
