Abstract

The analysis of integrative mechanisms used by the management revealed that in both the ICDPs respondents felt that calling experts or consultants to get rid of co-ordination difficulties was an effective way of securing co-ordination. Whereas in the most successful Milk Union the coordinative mechanisms such as ‘any disagreements are referred to higher level management for a directive’ and ‘there is extensive participation of the various areas of activity in the organisation's planning process so that points of conflict are anticipated and taken care of in advance’ were being used consistently. It could be concluded that the integrative mechanisms being used in.both the ICDPs were more consistent than those in Milk Unions which showed wide variation.
