The rural youths need a whole package of supporting inputs and services to develop dairying as an effective instrument for employment. However, as the experience goes, these latest technologies are not always easily accessible to youths. Dairying is the single most important factor towards their employment and economic well-being. With its massive potential force of one fifth of the nation's population, their leadership qualities, attitude and skills in rural occupation decides the rural economy. About 23 per cent of the rural population falls in the age group 15–35 years, a group full of potentials for constructive purpose. Their thinking is more dynamic, sensitive and receptive which can be better utilized in the rapid transfer or dissemination of innovations in the field of dairying and animal husbandry to their communities. The youths have their own role for adopting new ideas and influencing the other farmers in their own village and adjoining villages. A comprehensive training and education programme was arranged by the Division of Dairy Extension, NDRI, Kamal for the youths based on their preferences in dairy farming activities to impart the technical know how and keep their knowledge up to date.
