Abstract

In all 36 test day pooled individual milk samples of Phule Triveni cows from first to third lactation order and during their first (d 07 to 30), second (d 31 to 150), third (d 151 to 270) and forth stage (d 271 and above) of lactations were examined for physical properties of milk. The colour of the milk ranged from perfect white to pale yellow intensity, the yellowness increases as the lactation order advanced. Specific gravity was not affected significantly either due to lactation order or the stages of lactation. The differences in specific heat and electrical conductivity of milk was significantly (P<0.01) influenced due to the stage of lactation. The effect of lactation order and its interaction with the stage of lactation were found to be non-significant. The viscosity of the milk was not significantly influenced by any of the factor under study.
