Abstract

This paper focuses on the characteristics of trained rural women, who want to become entrepreneurs by applying for loan. This study revealed what those farm women who had higher level of aspiration were less likely to apply for loan to start a new enterprise. Those farm women who inspired other women to become interested in training programmes, who consulted with KVK staff, were high on entrepreneurial characteristics. As far as attributes towards setting up new business were concerned, farm women who take money on credit and those who think they could improve their economic conditions were also more likely to apply for loan. The findings of the study could be utilized for increasing the percentage of trained farm women who start their own enterprise after training.
