Assessment of Training Needs of The Members of Shgs on Dairy Management Practices

The present study was confined to the Parbhani district. The selection of this district was on significant numbers of s self Help Groups. A total of 108 respondents constituted the sample for the study. It was observed that 55.56 percent self help groups were established 3–4 years ago. As many as 75.00 percent were only the members and 51.85 percent were young. The respondents who could read and write only were 40.74 percent and 83.33 percent were having annual income of medium category. The families with 5–8 members were 57.14 percent and 69.45 percent were Joint family holders. The upper cost members were 57.40 percent and 38.88 percent were landless. Two animals were possessed by 78.70 percent and 54.63 percent respondents were receiving 5 litters of milk/day from the animals. Those having experience in dairy management upto 4 years were 55.56 percent and 82.41 percent had no social participation while 81.49 percent did not have any training.
