Presence and multiplication of aerobic spore formers in dairy products are of concern as a cause of economic loss through spoilage of contaminated products as well as possing serious public health hazard. A total 18 samples of condensed milk of 3 different brands A, B and C were collected from super markets in Chennai and subjected to enumeration of aerobic spore formers. Total count(cfu/g) of brand A, B and C were 2.01X106±1.59, 5.74X106±4.00 and 5.99X106±3.49 respectively. Brand A, B and C had an aerobic spore count(cfu/g) of 2.99X103±20.01, 9.82X104±7.43 and 1.17X105±6.06 respectively. Percentage of spore formers in the total count in brand A, B and C are 0.148,1.711 and 1.95 respectively. B.cereus was predominantly present with 41.6% prevalence followed by B.subtilis with 27% and B.licheniformis, B.megatherium, B.sphaericum, B.coagulans and B.pumilus in descending order.
