The study was undertaken in two blocks of Champawat district of Uttarakhand state to compare the socio-economic profile of members and non-members milk producer of dairy co-operatives. The data were solicited from 60 sample respondents (30 members and 30 non-members), for 300 days lactation period. The socio-economic status of member and non-members of dairy co-operatives were compared by taking different variables i.e. size of family, education, occupation, size of animal holding and milk production. Results indicated that in the study area educational level was good, family size was relatively larger, herd size was smaller, agriculture was main occupation while dairying was subsidiary occupation and operational holding was small for both members and non-members of dairy co-operatives. The average yield per milk producer was higher for members of dairy cooperatives than the non-members.
