A study on women employment through dairy micro-enterprise management

Women entrepreneurs play an important role in local economies and a large percentage of micro-enterprises in developing countries are undertaken by women. Through that, they are becoming economically independent and providing employment opportunities to others. Economic empowerment of women and entrepreneurship led to development of family and community. Micro - enterprises not only enhance national productivity, generate employment but also help to develop economic independence, personal and social capabilities among rural women. This paper attempts to find out the perceived effect of dairy micro-enterprise on the status of rural women with regard to the overall improvement in the status, majority of the women entrepreneurs’ perceived medium (72.5%) followed by high (15.5%) and low (12%) extent of improvement in their overall status.
