Abstract

One of the purposes concerning root canal therapy is to eliminate microorganisms from the root canal and prevent infection. At the end of the endodontic treatment, it is expected to achieve a tridimensional filling from the root canal system after cleaning and shaping, allowing hermetic sealing throughout the entire root canal extension and preventing a bacterial recontamination. The purpose of this paper was to assess, through the questionnaire, the filling material and techniques types.

The research was conducted through a questionnaire with a sample of 75 endodontics specialists.

The answers were computed and subjected to statistical tests in order to obtain a final percentage.

Through the results analyzes, we were able to conclude that the most used cements are Endofill and AH Plus with no statistically differences between them and that the choice cone is still Gutta-percha. It was possible to conclude that the lateral condensation technique with finger spreader is still much used. In addition, the thermoplastic filling has the major use incidence by the technique using McSpadden.
