Sponsored Health Research in India: Challenges and Opportunities

Research funding is the funding for scientific research in science, technology as well as social science. It is a competitive process, in which potential research proposals are evaluated, and only the best and most promising receive funding. Most research funding comes from either corporations or government. The process of grant writing and grant proposing is very crucial for both the grantor and the grantee: The grantors want to choose the best of the proposal while grantees want to apply for research so as to work toward their future scientific endeavors. The art of writing a research grant for funding of the research proposal is termed as “Grantsmanship.” This article will help novice or first-time grant applicants in India to steer through the difficult steps in grant application process.
