Abstract

Intra oral radiographs are the most commonly and frequently used investigative procedures for many dental procedures. All human beings are invariably exposed to natural radiations in their day to day life. X-ray radiations when taken for diagnostic purposes adds on to radiation exposure. Though the X-ray doses are very minimal in intra oral radiography with the advent of newer machines emphasis should be still made to take necessary protective measures to prevent any adverse effects. This review article gives an insight into the importance of protective measures to be followed while making intra oral radiographs and measures by which we can reduce the radiation exposure to the patients as well as the dental professionals.
