Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a technique for identifying cellular or tissue constituents (antigens) by means of antigen-antibody interactions. It is useful as an auxillary diagnostic procedure in histopathology. The introduction of prognostic and predictive markers in IHC has made a tremendous impact on patient's treatment and management. These methods are particularly useful to a pathologist in ambiguous areas of neoplastic process enhancing the accuracy to large extent. This review provides a summary of merits, demerits, staining procedures and troubleshooters in immunohistochemistry technique.
