The experiment was carried out at experimental farm of Department of Horticulture, T.C.A., Dholi, Muzaffarpur (Bihar) under AICRP on spices during 2016–17. Genotypic and phenotypic correlation and path coefficient analysis were carr ied out in nigella using sixteen diverse genotypes for ten quantitative characters. Analysis of variance revealed highly significant differences in genotypes for all the characters under study. In general, magnitudes of genotypic correlation coefficients were higher than their corresponding phenotypic correlation coefficient, suggesting a strong inherent relationship in different pairs of characters. Grain yield plant−1 had positive and highly significant cor relation with plant height, number of fruits plant-1, length of fruit, number of primary branches plant-1, number of grains fruit−1 and days to maturity. This indicated that these characters could be considered as criteria for selecting high yielding genotypes of nigella.
