Temperature and humidity play a crucial role in the development of P. argentipes

Abstract

Temperature and humidity regulate development of P. argentipes. The developmental time periodicity of flies was maximum in winter season than summer and rainy season. In all these season the temperature and humidity differed. The average fecundity of different colony in all three season varied from 3 – 50 eggs. In late winter or in automn the temperature and humidity is approximately favourable. So the no. of eggs laid by flies was higher. The number of adult emerged in all three season are also differed. The mortality of flies was higher in summer. In summer the temp is higher and the humidity is lesser which must increase the mortality rate of flies. The percentage of adult emerged with respect to egg in winter summer and rainy season were approximately 76.45%, 50% and 42.6% respectively at room temperature.
