Abstract

Vindhyan region situated in Madhya Pradesh, India is rich in terms of natural deposits of lime stones, white clay, bauxite, red stone, dolomite, laterite etc. and many cement industries have been established over this region, enhancing suspended particulate matter in the atmosphere. The merit of using sodar data to derive air pollution meteorological data of (SPM) mixing height and stability class are discussed in comparison with conventional data realized from tower and radiosonde measurements over Vindhyan region in Madhya Pradesh, India. It has been suggested to utilize the realistic surface based data in redesigning the chimney height for reducing the surface air-pollution in the region.
