Sixteen mungbean genotypes were evaluated for their resistance to Callosobruchus maculatus F. (Coleoptera: Bruchidae) on the basis of three parameters viz., number of healthy seeds (resistance), number of eggs oviposited (ovipositional preference), and total emergence holes (adult survival), for 50 seeds. All the three characters were highly heritable and the numher of eggs per 50 seeds had slightly lower heritability estimate. The resistance was found to be negative function of adults emerged, indicating the importance of this parameter while selecting bruchid resistant mungbcan varieties.
