Abstract

Two new species, viz., perscinomaculata and fuscofasciatus, have been described under the genus Phylaitis Pascoe. P. perscinomaculata sp. nov. can be easily distinguished by the presence of saffron scales and absence of hairs on tibiae and tarsi in the male. P. fuscofasciatus sp. nov. shows general resemblance with pterospermi Marshall in solaras the carination of rostrum and the shave of whitish antescutellar patch are concerned. The ground colour of its body and legs is, however, ferruginous with blackish tarsi as compared to uniformly blackish ground colour in pterospermi Marshall. The structure of the male genitalia also shows Important difference in component parts Phylaitis v-album Pascoe has been recorded for the first time from Jalpaiguri (West Bengal), India A key to the so far known six Indian species of Phylaitis viz., P. v-album Pascoe, P. perscinomculata sp. nov., P. fuscofasclatus sp. nov., P. grewiae Marshall, P. cryptolepidis Marsball, and P. pterospermi Marshall, has been given.
