Eight species of Melonotus Esch. are reported from north-west India. Of these, seven, viz, kumaunensis, angustiformis, longipilosus, bifoveatus, plotypus, punctorotundus and foliatus are new. These are easily separable on the basis of external morphology. Parameres bear subapical processes in all the species. Aedeagus is invariably longer than parameres. Furcae are rarely short.
