Two new species of Ampedinae, one each from Megapenthes Kiesen. and Melanoxanthus Esch. are described. These genera are distinguished from each other on the basis of shape and length of antennal segment and also the shape of mandibles. The species were obtained from the agriculture and forest habitats of northern India.
