Abstract

Experiments were conducted to find out the effect of mating duration on the viability of silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) eggs of race Skuast-23. Out of 13 different mating durations starting from 1.0 minute to 480.0 minutes, 30.0 mlnutes was observed to be optimal minimum for getting the higher percentage of viable eggs. The mating capacity of male at an interval of 30.0 minutes mating duration was determined. A single male was found to be capable of mating with at least 11 females. However, the average percentage of viable eggs was found highest at the first attempt of mating.
