Abstract

Morphological details of spermathecae of four Indian pentatomids, viz., Bagrada picta Fabr., Eusarcocoris guttiger Thunb., Halys dentatus Fabr. and Nezara sp. revealed that these genera of family Pentatomidae are quite different from each other. Therefore, the characters of spermathecae can easily be used in preparing the key for separating these genera of family Pentatomidae. The key was based on shape of spermathecal bulb (rounded or elongated), with or without diverticulae and that too either single or paired. The family Pentatomidae is closely related to the family Cydnidae and Aradidre.
